Why we only do bathrooms

Most remodeling companies in Sacramento will do your bathroom, your kitchen, your windows and your roof. Sacramento Elite Bath Remodeling does bathrooms, and within that we specialize in bathrooms that need to work for someone with reduced mobility. The reason is simple: accessible bathroom work is unusually easy to do badly, and the failures are not cosmetic. A grab bar anchored into tile instead of blocking looks identical to one anchored properly, right up until the moment somebody needs it. A curbless shower with the slope wrong does not reveal itself until water is running across the hallway floor.

Doing one thing means we know the published standards rather than looking them up. California Building Code 11A sets accessible shower compartment dimensions. The California Plumbing Code sets receptor slope and drain depth. ADA Standards section 609.8 sets the 250-pound grab bar load. Those are the numbers our work is measured against, and they are the numbers we design to from the first sketch.

The bathroom is where independence is usually lost first

The CDC recorded roughly 234,000 bathroom injuries treated in U.S. emergency departments in a single year, with falls responsible for 81% of them. For older adults the injuries concentrate around two specific movements: getting into and out of the bathing area, and transferring on and off the toilet. Bathroom injuries linked to toilet transfers rise from 19.3% of cases among people aged 65 to 74 to 36.9% among those 85 and older. Most remodels ignore the toilet completely. We do not.

Nobody should have to choose between safe and dignified

The most common reason safety features go unused is that people dislike how they look and quietly avoid them. Grab bars come in brushed brass, oil-rubbed bronze and matte black. Benches can look like architecture. The strength lives in the blocking behind the wall, which nobody ever sees, so there is no trade-off to make.

Sacramento's housing is specific, and generic advice does not fit it

A tub to shower conversion is a different job in a raised-floor Broderick cottage than in a slab-built Rosemont tract home, and different again in a Rio Linda property running on a well and septic. Foundation type alone changes the price meaningfully. How we quote

We come to the house, measure the real bathroom, determine your foundation type, and check what is behind the wall wherever we can do so without damage. Then we give you a written fixed price with the items that commonly surprise people listed separately: concrete saw-cutting, replacing pre-1970 galvanized supply lines, water heater capacity for a walk-in tub, structural blocking, and tile repair. You should be able to see those decisions rather than discover them.

We will also tell you when to spend less. If a half-inch beveled threshold solves your problem, we will say so rather than selling a full curbless build. If a walk-in shower suits you better than a walk-in tub, we will say that too, even though the tub is the larger sale.
